TQC

TQC stands for Total Quality Control.

TQC is for not only the manufacturing branch but also Marketing and Design .

It considers all kinds of quality those are Equality, Reproducibility, Reliability, Productivity and Harmoniousness totally.

From SPC to TQC

At first, it is important to improve quality of products in the factory. But SPC has limits to improve all aspects of products. For example, process engineers think, "If the Design is changed, quality will be good.", "If the material is changed, quality will be good. But the change may affect other quality." and "My action depends on the action of Marketing ."

TQC considers that planning divisions of the products and feedback from customers are important. TQC aims to do quality management in the whole company. The company is a system for products. Total optimization of the whole company and all kinds of quality goes over the limit of SPC.

Methods of TQC

TQC and TQM

A.V. Feigenbaum suggested the optimization (to think the balance) of the company for quality. This is TQC.

But his TQC did not take roots. At least in Japan, Teaming (KAIZEN) and Hoshin-Kanri took roots as the central method of TQC. And the name "TQC" was changed into "TQM".

TQC in this page is that I arrange the Feigenbaum's idea to fit today's quality control. I explain the thought of TQM in the page of TQC, TQM, Six-Sigma and Others .
