GIS

GIS stands for Geographic Information System. There are large data bases. And various analysis started with them.

GIS is main part of quantitative geography .

Layer

Geography has studied the distribution of various natural and social aspect of the world on the map. The distribution of each aspect is used as "layer".

It was difficult to study the relationship between different distributions in old geography. But we can do it quantitatively with GIS. This is a strong tool.
